Burleson Renshi, 5th Dan, is the chief instructor of Peak
Performance Shotokan Karate-Do. She has more than 24 years of experience in
Shotokan Karate; she has attended seminars and training camps throughout the
world to expand her knowledge and improve her ability to pass on that knowledge
to her students. She has competed at both the national and international levels
since 1983 and has held the SKIF World title for women's kata in her division
since 1997. In addition to Shotokan Karate she has practiced Taiji for the past
13 years and holds the rank of Shidouin (4th Dan). She has practiced meditation
for more than 30 years and attends weeklong silent retreats to deepen her
practice. Burleson Renshi also serves as the General Secretary of the National
Organization for SKIF-USA. She was instrumental in the founding of the
organization and has served on the Board of Directors since its inception.
Burleson Renshi holds a degree in Psychology and Physical
Education from the University of Minnesota. With her family, she is a long-time
resident of New Brighton.
